समद्र विज्ञान में महसागयी जल केकर पशुओं के पीने, फसलों की सिंचई करने, काखानों में जलापूर्ति, जशक्ति, जल रिवहन, मत्स्यखेट आदि विभिन्न रूपों में जल आवश्यक ही नहीं अनवर्य होता है।

उत्तरी सागर में थोड़ी मात्रा में कच्चा तेल निकाला जाता है, लेकिन वह देश की अपनी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति के लिए भी पर्याप्त नहीं है।

मनुष्य के लिए जन्तु जगत् और पशु संसाधन (Animal resource) का अत्यधिक महत्व है।

किसी प्रदेश में जनसंख्या, कृषि, पशुपालन, खनन, उद्योग धंधों, परिवहन के साधनों, व्यापारिक एवं वाणिज्कि संस्थाओं आदि के ऐतिहासिक विकास का अध्ययन मानव भूगोल में किया जाता है जिसके लिए उपयुक्त साक्ष्य और प्रमाण इतिहास से ही प्राप्त होते हैं।

इनमें एक अज्ञात मातृदेवी की मूर्तियाँ, भगवान शिव पशुपति जैसे देवता की मुद्राएँ, शिवलिंग, पीपल की पूजा, इत्यादि प्रमुख हैं।

वैदिक काल में पशुओं का मांस खाने की अनुमति नहीं थी, एक सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार आजकल लगभग 70% हिन्दू, अधिकतर ब्राह्मण व गुजराती और मारवाड़ी हिन्दू पारम्परिक रूप से शाकाहारी हैं।

मांसाहार को इसलिये अच्छा नहीं माना जाता, क्योंकि मांस पशुओं की हत्या से मिलता है, अत: तामसिक पदार्थ है।

वर्षण (बूंदा बांदी, बारिश, ओले के साथ वर्षा, बर्फ, कच्चा ओला और ओलों इत्यादि) का वितरण भी असमान्य है; यह पश्चिम और उत्तर में सबसे अधिक जबकि पूर्व और दक्षिण पूर्व में सबसे कम है।

वहाँ से एक कच्चा मार्ग पूर्व की ओर जंगल से होकर गुजरता है,उसी से पहुँचा जा सकता है।

उपनिषदों में देवता-दानव, ऋषि-मुनि, पशु-पक्षी, पृथ्वी, प्रकृति, चर-अचर, सभी को माध्यम बना कर रोचक और प्रेरणादायक कथाओं की रचना की गयी है।

हिन्दू धर्म के मुताबिक मनुष्य में ही नहीं, बल्कि हर पशु और पेड़-पौधे, यानि कि हर जीव में आत्मा होती है।

साबुदाना के निर्माण के लिए एक ही कच्चा माल है "टैपिओका रूट" जिसे अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर "कसावा" के रूप में जाना जाता है।

बाड़मेर क्षेत्र में सिलिसियस अर्थ और कच्चा तेल के भंडार प्रचुर मात्रा में हैं।

प्राकृतिक साधनों की कम के कारण नीदरलैंड बाहर से कच्चा माल मँगाकर उनसे विभिन्न प्रकार के समान तैयार करता है, और उनका निर्यात करता है।
