शैलधाकुरंग (पेट्रोग्रोल, Petrogole) और ओनीकोगोल (Onychogole) प्रजाति के शैल वैलेबी (रॉक वैलेबी, Rock Wallaby) और नखपुच्छ (नेल टेल) वैलेबी नाम के कंगारू बहुत सुंदर और छोटे कद के होते हैं।

बंगाल टाईगर, तेंदुए, भालू, हाथी, सांभर, हिरन आदि जानवरों को यहां के प्राकृतिक वातावरण में विचरण करते देखा जा सकता है।

इन्हीं के निकट संबंधी तरुकुरंग (डेंड्रोलेगस कंगारू, Dendrolagus kangaroos) हैं जो पेड़ों पर भी चढ़ जाते हैं।

इस अभयारण्य में साल (शोरिया रोबस्टा) के घने जंगल से ढकी पहाड़ियां हैं, जिनमें बाघ, तेंदुआ, रीछ, काला भालू, हिरन, जंगली सूअर, लकड़बग्घा, मोर, लाल जंगली मुर्ग़ी और हरे कबूतर रहते हैं।

इनकी आँखें भूरी और औसत कद की, कान गोलाई लिए बड़े और घूमनेवाले होते हैं, जिन्हें हिरन आदि की भाँति इधर-उधर घुमाकर ये दूर आहट पा लेते हैं।

इसी कारण वह राजकुमारी कुरंगी पर हाथी के आक्रमण करने पर उसे मुक्त करता है।

हाथी, सांभर, चीतल, हिरन आसानी से देखे जा सकते हैं।

वनस्पतियों के अलावा इस जंगल में हाथी, शेर, तेंदुआ, जंगली सूअर, जंगली बिल्ली और धब्बेदार हिरन जैसे जानवर भी मिलते हैं।
