(क) तान्त्रिक काल - जीवन के आरंभ में अभिनवगुप्त ने तंत्रशास्त्रों का गहन अनुशीलन किया तथा उपलब्ध प्राचीन तंत्रग्रंथों पर इन्होंने अद्धैतपरक व्याख्याएँ लिखकर लोगों में व्याप्त भ्रांत सिद्धांतों का सफल निराकरण किया।

मीमांसा दर्शन नैयायिकों के समान विधि मुख से ईश्वर का समर्थन अैर निरीश्वर सांख्यवादियों के समान निषेध भी नहीं करता, किंतु "संबंधाक्षेपपरिहार" ग्रंथ में कुमारिल भट्ट ने शब्दार्थ के संबंध का कर्ता ईश्वर का निराकरण किया है।

इस पद्धति से दंडनीति का जन्म हुआ जब इससे समाज और राष्ट्र की समस्याओं के निराकरण का प्रयास हुआ तो युद्ध की संस्था का विकास हुआ।

कुमारिल भट्ट, नंदीश्वर आदि मीमांसकों ने अनुमानसिद्ध ईश्वर का निराकरण किया है और वेदसिद्ध ईश्वर को स्वीकार किया है।
