આથીજ યજ્ઞોપવિત સંસ્કાર બાદ કિશોર "દ્વિજ" (જેનો બીજો જન્મ થયો છે તે) તરીકે ઓળખાય છે.

આમ દ્વિજનો અર્થ થાય છે, બે વાર જન્મેલું, અથવા તો જેનો અર્થ બે વખત થયો હોય તેવું.
