महामारी विज्ञान (epidemiology) और जन स्वास्थ्य में आँकड़ों की आवश्यकता पड़ती है और किसी नई औषधि या टीके (inoculation) की दक्षता का पता लगाने के लिए आयुर्वेज्ञानिक अनुसंधान में सांख्यिकीय विधियों के ज्ञान की आवश्यकता होती है।
