इस अवसर पर दूर_ दूर से श्रध्दालु आकर इस ताल में स्नान कर पुण्य कमाते है।

इस अवसर पर देश-विदेश से करोड़ों श्रध्दालु भक्तजन, साधु-संत, महात्मा महामंडलेश्वर एवं अखात्रडा प्रमुख उज्जयिनी में कल्पवास कर मोक्ष प्राप्ति की मंगल कामना करते हैं।

क्षिप्रा के इन घाटों का गौरव सिंहस्थ के दौरान देखते ही बनता है, जब लाखों-करोडों श्रध्दालु यहां स्नान करते हैं।

1847 में जन्मे लोग पुरामहादेव (जिसे परशुरामेश्वर भी कहते हैं) उत्तर प्रदेश के मेरठ शहर के पास, बागपत जिले से ४.५ कि.मी दूर बालौनी कस्बे में एक छोटा से गाँव पुरा में हिन्दू भगवान शिव का एक प्राचीन मंदिर है जो शिवभक्तों का श्रध्दा केन्द्र है।

कहते हैं, इससे पहले औरंगज़ेब ने उन्हें अपना हिन्दुधर्म त्याग कर मुगलों का धर्म अपनानें की माँग रखी थी लेकिन युगप्रवर्तक राजा छत्रपती शिवाजीराजें का बेटा और अपने धर्मपर पुरी निष्ठा और श्रध्दा रखनें वाले सम्भाजीराजें ने ये माँग फटकार दी और इस्लाम का स्वीकार कतई न करनें का निश्चय औरंगज़ेब को बता दिया था|।

मतांतरित ईसाइयों के मन में भारत के प्रति श्रध्दाभाव खत्म हो जाता था और वे अंग्रेजों के आज्ञाकारी सेवक बन जाते थे।

पूष माह में यहां तीन दिवसीय मेला लगता है तथा बडी संख्या में श्रध्दालु यहां आते हैं।

उस क्षेत्र के वनवासी आज भी एक शिला को पूजते हैं, जिसके बारे में उनकी श्रध्दा है कि श्रीराम आकर यहीं बैठे थे।

इसके अतिरिक्त जहाँ कहीं भी लोग 'सर' हिलेरी की मूर्ति देखते हैं वहीं पर श्रध्दा सुमन अर्पित कर अपनी श्रद्धांजलि दे रहे हैं।
