परी कथाएँ परी कथा एक काल्पनिक कहानी होती है जिसमे विभिन्न लोककथनीय पात्रों का जैसे कि अप्सराएँ, पिशाच, राक्षस, जादूगर, दानव और, बात करने वाले पशु और पक्षिओं का समावेश होता है, साथ ही विभिन्न विस्मयकारी घटनाओं और आमतौर पर एक लम्बे काल का वर्णन होता है।

अद्भुत- विचित्र, विलक्षण, आश्चर्यजनक, स्वर्गीय, विस्मयजनक, अनोखा, अप्रतिम, दिव्य, अनूठा, असांसरिक, निराला अपूर्व, अलौकिक, अपार्थिव, अतिप्राकृत, लोकातीत, अजीब, अजब।

ऊपर लिखे वाक्यों में बाप - रे- बाप !,शाबाश !,अच्छा ! किसी न किसी भाव को दर्शाता हैं; जैसे -  बाप - रे- बाप विस्मय के भाव को, शाबाश हर्ष के भाव को, अच्छा आश्चर्य के भाव को प्रकट करता है | ऐसे शब्दों को विस्मयादिबोधक शब्द कहते हैं |।

इस प्रकार उनका यह कार्य विस्मयकारी और रोमांचक होता है।

मोख्तार-नामा में, रहस्यमय और धार्मिक विषयों का एक सुसंगत समूह उल्लिखित है (मिलन के लिए खोज, विशिष्टता की भावना, दुनिया से दूर होना, सत्यानाश, विस्मय, पीड़ा, मृत्यु के प्रति जागरूकता, आदि) और एक समान रूप से समृद्ध समूह।
