1. विनिमय का माध्यम।

अधिकांश आधुनिक बाज़ारों में मुद्रा को विनिमय का माध्यम बनाकर एक पक्ष अपने द्वारा बनाई माल या सेवाएँ दूसरे पक्ष को मुद्रा (पैसे) के बदले में देता है।
