शेफ़ील्ड रेलवे स्टेशन के प्रमुख रेल मार्ग मिडलैंड मेन लाइन को सम्मिलित करता है, जो ईस्ट मिडलैंड्स के द्वारा शहर को लन्दन से जोड़ती है, यह एक क्रॉस कंट्री मार्ग है जो स्कॉट लैंड के पूर्वीय भाग को और इंग्लैंड के उत्तरपूर्वी भाग को वेस्ट मिडलैंड्स और दक्षिण पश्चिम से जोड़ता है, यही लाइन हल और पूर्वी एंग्लिया को लिवरपूल और मैनचेस्टर से जोड़ती है।

यह एडिनबर्ग से पश्चिम में ग्लासगो के मुख्य रेल मार्ग पर स्थित है।
