कृत्रिम तत्व आकृतिविद्या (Physiognomy / फ़िज़िआनॉमी) एक असत् विद्या है जिसमें शरीर और उसके विभिन्न अंगों की बनावट तथा उनकी ज्ञापक मुद्राओं एवं चेष्टाओं, विशेषरूप से चेहरे की आकृति तथ अभिव्यक्ति को आधार बनाकर व्यक्ति की संवेगात्मक और अन्य मानसिक दशाओं की व्याख्या एवं विश्लेषण किया जाता है।

फ्रांसीसी भाषा में ‘एलीने’ (Aline) तथा स्पेनी भाषा में ‘एलिण्डो’ ऐसे शब्द हैं जिनका प्रयोग व्यक्ति की उन मानसिक दशाओं को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है जिसमें वह अपने आपको परदेशी समझने लगता है तथा अपने एवं अन्य व्यक्तियों के प्रति पृथक्करण अनुभव करने लगता है।

कोशिकीय शरीर बिलकुल सामान्य रह सकता है, उनके बेलनों में कोई संरचनात्मक परिवर्तन नहीं होता, लेकिन सामान्य लोगों में अत्यधिक परिवर्तनशील उनके बहु संपर्कों की व्यवस्थाएं न्यूनाधिक स्थिर हो सकती हैं जिनका संबंध लगातार विचारों और निश्चित अस्वस्थ मानसिक दशाओं में सन्निपात से संबंध हो सकता है।
