It runs from Derby in the English Midlands to Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, passing Ashbourne, Buxton and New Mills, and includes the traffic-free rail trails at Tissington and Longdendale (also part of the Trans Pennine Trail).


It runs from Holmfirth via Upperthong, Meltham and Slaithwaite, encountering the M62 motorway as it crosses the dam at Scammonden Reservoir.


The first edition was published as a weekly, starting on 6 September 1851, as the Huddersfield " Holmfirth Examiner, although the 'Holmfirth' was dropped from the title two years later.

Under the Local Government Act 1972, the Holmfirth urban district was abolished on 1 April 1974, but its area was retained as a single civil parish with a parish council.


The council changed its name from Holmfirth Parish Council to its present Holme Valley Parish Council in 1975.


The east coast is more regular, with a series of large estuarine inlets, or firths, and long sandy beaches, for example at Aberdeen.


Aith lies on the B9071 that runs south to the junction with the A971 (which links Lerwick to the west of Shetland) at the village of Bixter and North East via East Burrafirth to the junction with the A970 (which links Lerwick to the North) at the village of Voe.


Civil parishes in Lincolnshire Olpenitz (Danish: Olpenæs) is a part of the town Kappeln in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, at the mouth of the Schlei firth to the Baltic Sea.


Opened in July 1850 by the Huddersfield " Sheffield Junction Railway (a satellite company of the Lancashire " Yorkshire Railway), the station was formerly the junction for the Holmfirth Branch Line, which opened on the same day as the main line but closed to passenger trains on 2 November 1959 and to goods traffic in May 1965.
