इस पुस्तक में उन्होंने अपने पूर्व अनुभवों द्वारा लैटिन अमेरिका के तानाशाहों की भर्त्सना की है।

वह प्रबुद्ध तानाशाही का समर्थक था और 1784 में उसकी सरकार ने इलूमिनाती सहित सभी गुप्त समाजों पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया।

दूसरी तरफ़  खुले समाज की वकालत करने वाले और मार्क्सवाद विरोधी बुद्धिजीवी सर्वहारा की तानाशाही वाली व्यवस्थाओं में कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के अधिकारियों द्वारा बड़े पैमाने पर राज्य के संसाधनों के दुरुपयोग और आम जनता के साधारण जीवन की कीमत पर ख़ुद के लिए आरामतलब ज़िंदगी की गारंटी करने की तरफ़ इशारा करते हैं।

1920 से 1923 तक,उन्होंने नॉर्वे की लेबर पार्टी की महिला महासंघ की अगुवाई की, उसने अपने पूर्ववर्तियों गनहिल जिनेर और मार्था टाइनो की तुलना में अधिक कट्टरपंथी रुख अपनाते हुए सर्वहारा वर्ग की तानाशाही और मास्को में प्रवृत्तियों के अनुरूप समाजीकरण किया।

२००२ में भूतपूर्व पाकिस्तानी तानाशाह परवेज़ मुशर्रफ़ ने इसपर पाबंदी लगा दी थी और इसे एक आतंकवादी संगठन घोषित कर दिया था।

१९३१ में सोवियत तानाशाह जोसेफ़ स्टालिन के अपनी समूहीकरण (कलेक्टिवाइज़ेशन) की नीति के तहत बहुत से बौद्ध मठ तोड़े, धार्मिक ग्रंथ जलाए और ५०० से अधिक भेड़ो के मालिक सभी कालमिकियों को साइबेरिया भेज दिया।
