ग्वालियर की 150 वर्ष पुरानी नोट परंपराओं में नाटकों का मंचन चित्र एवं रीगल टॉकीज (टाउन हॉल) में होता था परंतु आर्टिस्ट्स कंबाइन के उत्साही सदस्यों ने स्मारक खोज निकाला ! पूर्व में सन 1955 तक ऐसा नाटकों में मंचन के लिए स्थान निश्चित नहीं था, परंतु संस्था के सदस्यों ने एवं आदरणीय वासुदेव शिरगांवकर महाराज जी ने इस समस्या का समाधान निकाला !।

पहली मूक बंगाली फीचर फिल्म, बिल्वमंगल, 1919 में निर्मित हुई थी और पहली बंगाली टॉकी, जमाई षष्ठी, 1931 में रिलीज हुई थी।

इसके २ साल बाद बाम्बे टॉकीज़ की फ़िल्म महल में उन्होने अभिनय किया।

वर्ष 1982 में इंडिया टॉकी के गोल्डेन जुबली समारोह में उन्हें भारत आने को न्योता मिला।

वर्ष 1947 मे देविका रानी के बाम्बे टॉकीज छोड़ देने के बाद अशोक कुमार ने बतौर प्रोडक्शन चीफ बाम्बे टाकीज के बैनर तले मशाल जिद्दी और मजबूर जैसी कई फ़िल्मों का निर्माण किया।
