Magazines established in 1992 Cottingley railway station serves the Cottingley and Churwell areas of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

A proposed White Rose railway station south of Cottingley station is currently under consideration.

It is undecided whether to retain Cottingley station or to close it, if and when, White Rose opens.

The station was opened by British Rail on 25 April 1988 with financial assistance from West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and is currently managed by Northern Trains, however, most trains that call at Cottingley are now operated by TransPennine Express apart from three peak hour services.

Following the new White Rose Station a few hundred yards to the south being given the green light it is a strong possibility that Cottingley may be closed, dismantled and removed, but no final decision has been made on this as yet.

Patronage at Cottingley station (off Cottingley Drive) has increased significantly in recent years, and this is reflected by the figures published by the Office of the Rail Regulator (ORR).

As of December 2020, from Monday to Friday and on Saturdays, there is an hourly service from Cottingley to Leeds and to Huddersfield calling at all intermediate stations.

Historically, Cottingley had a 05:25 service to Wigan Wallgate, which has now been lost as it instead runs via Bradford Interchange and Halifax.

The station lost its ECML status in 1871 when the new direct line from York to Doncaster via Selby was opened, but trains from London to Harrogate continued to call and yet another addition to the list of routes serving the station came in 1879 when the Swinton and Knottingley Joint Railway line via Pontefract Baghill and Ferrybridge was opened.

The Leeds to York Line carries a frequent passenger service (including CrossCountry and First TransPennine Express services) whilst the line towards Sherburn, Milford Junction and thence to Knottingley, Castleford and Pontefract carries large quantities of freight.

The station was opened together with the Ferrybridge to Moorthorpe section of the Swinton and Knottingley Joint Railway.
