जुलूस में हर धर्म के, हर राजनीतिक पार्टी के लोग शामिल होते हैं, प्राय: महापौर (मेयर) ही जुलूस का नेतृत्व करता है।

पंज पियारे जुलूस का नेतृत्व करते हुए रंगों की बरसात करते हैं और जुलूस में निहंगों के अखाड़े नंगी तलवारों के करतब दिखते हुए बोले सो निहाल के नारे बुलंद करते हैं।
