हाल के वर्षों में ९०० एमटीडी(मीट्रिक टन प्रतिदिन) से अधिक उत्पादन क्षमता वाले दो बड़े चूना निर्माण संयंत्र जयन्तिया हिल्स जिले में लुम्श्नौंग और नौङ्ग्स्निङ्ग में लगे हैं एवं इस जिले में उपलब्ध उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले चूना पत्थर के समृद्ध भण्डार का उपयोग करने के लिए कई और निर्माण प्रक्रिया में हैं।

Simeon Citadel and Dead Cities, Suggestion to have Serjilla recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, in 2006, as part of "Simeon Citadel and Dead Cities"-project.
