सामाजिक उपन्यासों में जो स्थान प्रेमचंद के 'गोदान' का है, पौराणिक-आधुनिकतावादी उपन्यासों में नरेन्द्र कोहली कृत 'वसुदेव' का स्थान उससे तनिक भी न्यूनतर नहीं है।
