कुछ मादा पतंगे अपने शरीर पर ऐसे रसायन बनातीं हैं जिस से अवरक्त प्रकाश (इंफ़्रारेड) उत्पन्न होता है।

इस से बहुत अवरक्त प्रकाश (इन्फ़्रारॅड) उत्पन्न होता दिखा है जिसका अर्थ यह है की इसके इर्द-गिर्द एक धूल और मलबे के चक्र होने की संभावना है।
