अमुन टुकड़ी रामेसेस के पीछे थी, रा टुकड़ी पास ही के कज्बे में थी, पिताह टुकड़ी दक्षिण के एक कज्बे में थी और सेत टुकड़ी सड़क रास्ते आ रही थी।

दक्षिणी हिस्से पर थेब्स के अमुन के उच्च पुजारियों का प्रभावी ढंग से नियंत्रण था, जो स्मेंडेस को केवल नाम से जानते थे।

रामेसेस ने अपनी सेना को टुकडियो में बाट दिया था और वे एक दुसरे से काफी दूर थी, हत्ती सेना ने सबसे पहले रा टुकड़ी पर हमला किया और उसे लघभग नष्ट कर दिया, बचे हुए योद्धा किसी कदर अमुन टुकड़ी तक पहोचे।

रामेसेस अपने लेख में लिखवाता है कि वह अपनी सेना के साथ कादेश की तरफ बड़ा, रामेसेस अमुन टुकड़ी में था।
