पश्चिम के वैज्ञानिकों में कुछ अनीश्वरवादी हुए हैं कुछ ईश्वरवादी और कुछ संशयवादी।

इसके उत्तर में अनीश्वरवादी कहते हैं कि ईश्वरभावना सभी मनुष्यों में अनिवार्य रूप से नहीं पाई जाती और यदि पाई भी जाती हो तो केवल मन की भावना से बाहरी वस्तुओं का अस्तित्व सिद्ध नहीं होता।

कपिलाचार्य को कई अनीश्वरवादी मानते हैं पर भग्वदगीता और सत्यार्थप्रकाश जैसे ग्रंथों में इस धारणा का निषेध किया गया है।
